This is a customer journey sheet, the figure an email marketing customer journey is built to produce and a small business works from three automations' send counts by hand. Leads times the share who stay past the welcome is the nurture; times the share who reach the offer is the offer; times the share who buy is the customers; customers times the first order is the revenue; leads plus nurture plus offer, each times the emails per step, is the emails; and emails over customers is the emails per customer won. Every rate is yours; the sheet publishes no benchmark. Free, on the page, no account; the paid plan keeps every journey with its steps, timings and drops.
The steps and the drop
300 leads at 60% staying past the welcome is 180 in nurture; 40% reaching the offer is 72; 15% buying is 11 customers, on the worked example. Each step's rate is where the journey leaks, and the sheet shows the count at every step so the leak has an address.
Revenue and emails
11 customers at $250 is $2,700 a month; three emails at each of three steps to 300, 180 and 72 contacts is 1,656 emails. The emails are the cost side of the journey, and the cost sheet on this site prices them per send.
Emails per customer won
1,656 emails over 11 customers is 153 per customer. It is the figure that says whether a journey is long or just busy, and it falls when a step's rate rises rather than when more emails are added.
Email marketing customer journey: common questions
How do I work out how many leads become customers?
Leads times each step's rate in turn: 300 times 60%, 40% and 15% is 11 customers on the worked example. The sheet works three steps from six figures with no account.
How many emails does it take to win a customer?
Emails sent across the journey over customers won: 153 on the worked example. Improving a step's rate lowers it; adding a fourth email raises it.
Can the paid plan run the journey?
It keeps the journey as steps with their timings, drops and the contacts at each, and exports it to the platform you send from; it sends nothing itself and is not an agency.
